BWF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020 CANCELED

On Thursday, October 22, the BWF announced the cancellation of the BARFOOT & THOMPSON BWF World Junior Championships 2020.

The Championships, which were to be played in New Zealand in September, had previously been rescheduled for January 2021. Unfortunately, the uncertainty surrounding the global pandemic and the restrictions associated with COVID-19 forced the BWF to cancel the Championships.

“It is unfortunate that the World Junior Championships had to be canceled, especially for our players aging out,” said Linda French, USAB Interim CEO. “We hope to provide opportunities to compete for these players in the second half of 2021.”

The 2021 edition of the Junior World Championships is scheduled to be played in China in October 2021. The BWF has awarded New Zealand the Championships in 2024.
