OCTOBER IS NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH

Dear Educator and Child Advocate,

MBF is excited to share two NEW no cost resources with you!

First, in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, MBF has created Bullying Prevention Lesson Plans. Adult intervention is one of the best defenses against bullying, but students can help too. For the month of October, we are providing lesson plans for grades K-12 at NO COST to you. In addition to supporting bullying prevention efforts, these lessons also focus on teaching empathy and spreading Kind Vibes. Students can learn the warning signs as well as ways to prevent bullying and cyberbullying using the MBF Safety Rules. Encouraging a schoolwide effort can help make lasting impacts and improve the culture of your school.

The lesson plans for all grade levels can be accessed at: https://www.mbfpreventioneducation.org/resource/bullying-prevention-lesson-plans/.

Please consider presenting these lessons to students, or alternatively, you may share them with teachers to present to help combat bullying and cyberbullying. The lesson plans include a review of the 5 Safety Rules from the MBF Child Safety Matters® and MBF Teen Safety Matters® prevention education program. We hope you will use these lessons to empower students, encourage compassion, and to spread Kind Vibes. Please visit www.mbfpreventioneducation.org to access additional Kind Vibes resources and information or click here to be linked directly to our Kind Vibes Headquarters.

Second, MBF Mental Health/Substance Abuse Supplemental Lessons are ready and available NOW on the Facilitator Portal! MBF has created these NO COST supplemental lessons to assist Florida school districts in meeting the newly passed Florida Department of Education Health Education Rules addressing Mental and Emotional Health and Substance Use and Abuse. Facilitators outside of Florida may use these supplemental lessons at no additional cost, we just ask for feedback when you have completed implementation. The lessons are available on the Facilitator Portal through the Quick Links menu. To access the Facilitator Portal, visit www.mbfpreventioneducation.org.

These lessons follow the same familiar format as our prevention programs; they are practical and easy to implement, include turnkey scripts and PowerPoint presentations. They are designed to follow the two school-based lessons for MBF Child Safety Matters or MBF Teen Safety Matters, which already meet Trafficking and Sexual Abuse Prevention Education requirements such as Erin’s Law. The best part is, like our existing programs, these supplemental lessons are evidence-informed, developmentally-appropriate, and trauma-informed, and the content includes the same MBF 5 Safety Rules to educate and empower students so there is consistency in all messaging.

If you have questions or need assistance locating the new supplemental lessons, please feel free to reach out to us at support@mbfpreventioneducation.org or call 904-642-0210.

Thank you for all you do to help keep kids healthy and safe.

The MBF Team
