U.S. Para Athletes at Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games

Para badminton competition officially began on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile. The U.S. has four para athletes competing in the badminton competition.
On the first day of competition, Jayci Simon won her Group B group play match in Women’s Singles SH6 against Brazil’s Renata Reis, 21-3 and 21-4.
In group play of Men’s Singles SH6, Miles Krawjewski defeated Canada’s Wyatt Lightfoot in Group C, 21-6 and 21-10.
In group play of Men’s Singles SH6, Richard Alcaraz was defeated by Dominican Republic’s Victor Ramirez De La Cruz in Group C in a tough three-game match, 23-21, 14-21 and 13-21.
In group play of Mixed Doubles SH6, Jayci Simon and Miles Krajewski defeated Canada’s Colleen Cloëtta and Justin Kendrick in Group A, 21-5 and 21-7.
In group play of Men’s Singles SH6, Miles Krawjewski defeated Chile’s Pablo Coloma Puga in Group C, 21-5 and 21-6.
In group play of Women’s Singles WH1, Amy Burnett defeated Joy-ann Clarke of Barbados in Group A, 21-7 and 21-3. Burnett also faced Brazil’s Daniele Souza and was defeated 9-21 and 5-21.
On the second day of competition, November 23, the athletes continued with group play.
In Men’s Singles SL4, Richard Alcaraz was defeated by Brazil’s Breno Johann, 10-21 and 12-21.
In Men’s Singles SH6, Miles Krawjewski defeated Argentina’s Jonatan Mattos, 21-8 and 21-2.
In Mixed Doubles SH6, Jayci Simon and Miles Krajewski defeated Argentina’s Jonatan Mattos and Karina Loyola, 21-4 and 21-4.
In Women’s Singles SH6, Jayci Simon defeated Argentina’s Karina Loyola, 21-10 and 21-8.
