US Players Earn Bronze at the 2026 HYLO Open

Last week in Germany, four US athletes competed in the 2026 HYLO Open which ran from October 27th through November 1st. Notably, Allison Lee and Lauren Lam played their way into the Women’s Doubles semi-finals, earning a bronze medal overall. The pair confidently competed against some of the world’s top players. The pairs coach, Olympian Paula Lynn Obanana, glowed “I’m definitely excited and happy with the girl’s progress. It’s been a good week for them.”

Lam reflected in an instagram post, “Coming into this tournament after three physically and mentally demanding weeks, we honestly didn’t know what to expect and another semifinal wasn’t necessarily something we saw coming. But I guess that’s the beauty of it all.” She goes on, “There’s still so much more we want to achieve, but sometimes it’s important to stop and appreciate the little victories along the way.”

Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles player Garret Tan commented on his own performance in an Instagram post, noting that “it’s frustrating when you know what you’re capable of but can’t seem to find your rhythm. But I need to accept that setbacks are part of the journey, and sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward.”

As they enter into the Asian leg of the BWF world tour, USA Badminton athletes seem to be carrying a positive mindset and learning from drawbacks. We are excited to see what is in store for them!
