Natalie Chi Earns Silver Medal at Junior Pan Am Games

Following Natalie Chi’s 21-17 and 21-16 win against Peru’s ⅝ seed Ines Lucia Castillo Salazar in the semifinals, the 2021 Junior Pan Am Games concluded with the finals on Monday, November 29.

As the last remaining U.S. player in the competition, Chi faced her most challenging test against Canada’s ⅝ seed Rachel Chan in a 50-minute match, the longest of all the finals matches. Chi won the first game after taking an early lead and never allowing the Canadian to catch up en route to a 21-14 win. Chan held the advantage in the second game as Chi lost 5-21. The third game began with a lead by Chi before Chan pulled ahead by a few points just before the interval. The American fought hard to keep the score tight but would fall 15-21 in the final game.

Congratulations to Natalie Chi for her silver medal and to all of the athletes that represented the U.S. in badminton at the 2021 Junior Pan Am Games!
