Announcement from USA Badminton

Dear USAB Community,

As many of you are aware, the USOPC has sent letters to the USAB community, athletes, board and staff to inform parties that the USOPC has initiated proceedings to decertify USA Badminton (USAB) as an NGB (Section 8 complaint, per the USOPC Bylaws).

A little background:
In 2017, USAB had a scheduled NGB Compliance Audit. A Section 8 complaint was filed in November 2019 and was resolved in 2020, after completion of a second follow-up audit in July 2020.
As of 2020, SafeSport Audits are an entirely separate process and schedule from the USOPC’s NGB Compliance Audits.

In 2021, the USOPC published a 2021-2024 schedule where NGBs are audited every quad (four-year period ending in an Olympic year) against the NGB Compliance Standards that are in place at the time of the audit.

In 2022, per the USOPC’s NGB audit schedule, the audit of USAB for the current quad started, and the Audit Report for USA Badminton, dated May 17, 2024, is currently published on the USOPC website, along with the compliance audit reports for other NGBs (scroll down to bottom of https://www.usopc.org/ngb-audit ).

Currently, the staff and board of USAB is actively working with the USOPC compliance audit team assigned to USAB to address audit findings marked as deficient. We encourage interested parties to download the Audit Report for USA Badminton, dated May 17, 2024

The staff and board of USAB are committed to keeping you — our members and community — informed as we progress forward.

Please feel free to reach out to us. We welcome any feedback, questions or concerns.

All the best,

John Ruger, USAB Interim CEO                      Ken Wong, USAB Board Chair
