Natalie Chi through to Semifinals at Junior Pan Am Games

After Jennie Gai’s win against Mexico’s Vanessa Maricela Garcia Contreras on Saturday, 21-14 and 21-11, the U.S. entered the third day of play with one player in men’s singles and two in women’s singles. 

The third day of the 2021 Junior Pan Am Games began with Natalie Chi defeating Brazil’s ¾ seed Jaqueline Lima, 21-11 and 21-12. Chi moves on to the semifinals tonight against Peru’s ⅝ seed Ines Lucia Castillo Salazar.

Also in women’s singles, U.S. No. 2 seed Jennie Gai faced Canada’s ⅝ seed Rachel Chan in the quarterfinals. Gai fell 19-21 and 15-21. 

In men’s singles, Don Henley Averia faced a tough match against Canada’s No. 1 seed Brian Yang in the quarterfinals. He fell to the Canadian, 12-21 and 4-21.
