HOW TO BECOME A BADMINTON PARALYMPIAN
- Train: A minimum of five days per week with a coach or training group. Training requires planning. We will begin listing coaching and locations on the Para-Badminton Website.
- We will also be distributing a basic warmup, Simple Routines & Development and Advanced work for each classification.
- Know what it takes to be good: Learn all rules and standards. Standards include minimum requirements of tournament participation, BWF tournament points, BWF rating and result. There will be different standards established for:
- Becoming a member of the U.S. Para Badminton National Team
- Becoming a member of the U.S. Paralympics Badminton National Team
- Qualifying for entry into international competitions (i.e., Para-Pan American Games, World Championships, Paralympic Games, etc.)
- In the future, Selection Procedures will be published each year for the Para National Team and tournaments if selection procedures are required. Official Badminton Para tournaments are sanctioned by BWF or USA Badminton.
In order to register for the Para event in one of USAB tournaments, new Para athlete must be a USA Badminton member and classified by Para National classifier.
We will be adding U.S. Para-Badminton tournaments in the future as we build the program.
