Prospectus Released for Collegiate Nationals (Individual) – Selection Event for World University Games

The Collegiate National Championships will consist of Individual Events only and will be held March 25-27, 2022 at Triangle Badminton & Table Tennis located at 2900 Perimeter Park Dr, #200 Morrisville, NC 27560.

USA Badminton membership will be needed for any participants.
The Collegiate National Championships will be the Selection Event for the World University Games (WUG) to be held June 26 – July 7, 2022 in Chengdu, China. Our anticipated team size, which may be reduced by the organizer, is expected to be six men & six women. If the team size is reduced, USAB will give priority to the winners of the Selection Event. There are additional positions for four staff who will accompany the U.S. Team to China. All players and staff must self-fund all costs for the trip to Chengdu, China. The fee per person to attend the event is $2945 plus airfare. The fee will need to be paid to USA Badminton by April 8, 2022.
Participants in the Collegiate National Championships must be U.S. Citizens as only U.S. Citizens may participate on the United States World University Games Team.
To enter the Collegiate Nationals each athlete must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible:
- United States Citizen and able to obtain a U.S. Passport. The passport must be valid to six months beyond the Closing Ceremonies of the Games;
- Birthdate between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 2004 for Chengdu
- Have taken at least one 3-credit course towards a degree or diploma at an accredited college or university within the last year before the Games. Incoming freshmen and transfers are usually eligible. The standard is that the athlete must be “progressing towards a degree”;
Those entering college just need to show that they are enrolled and have paid a deposit to attend.
