Update to the USA Badminton Community

Dear USA Badminton community,
Out of care for our community and value for transparent communication, we would like to provide an update on the state of affairs for the organization.
USA Badminton is currently navigating financial and legal challenges stemming from multi-year litigation concerning activities from several years ago. A recent judgment, along with potential additional legal costs, will significantly impact USAB’s financial standing. The Board is actively assessing the organization’s position and available options, prioritizing the continuity of operations, support for athletes and programs, and the future of USA Badminton. No final decisions have been made, and the Board will provide updates to the badminton community as the situation develops.
The Governance Reset was initially proposed in November 2025 by BWF working in conjunction with USOPC as a path for USA Badminton to regain its status as the National Governing Body for badminton in the United States. The governance reform process remains ongoing. While the USOPC will no longer participate directly in the process, it has indicated to BWF that it will continue to provide guidance and is open to reviewing USAB’s progress in six months. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) continues to view the reform plan as important to USAB’s recertification and is updating its proposal to reflect the USOPC’s reduced role. USAB received the updated reset proposal from BWF today and will evaluate to determine the appropriate path forward.
We greatly appreciate your support as we continue to navigate these obstacles. Expect further updates as circumstances evolve.
