USAB Accepting Nominations for Team USA Athletes’ Commission Alternate Election

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO –  USA Badminton is currently accepting self-nominations to participate in the election for the alternate position for the Team USA Athletes’ Commission. The alternate position will run through Dec. 31, 2024.

Interested and qualified athletes (see below) should submit their self-nomination statement of not more than 200 words to ContactUs@usabadminton.org by Nov. 22, 2023. Interested persons should submit the following:

• A written statement of intent summarizing qualifications, motivation, and willingness to serve the mission of the Team USA AC as a leader.
• Current resume/CV with professional, athletic, and governance qualifications.
• An individual running for election must disclose any actual, possible or perceived conflict of interest to the USAB Ethics Committee

Those individuals who have been selected by their NGB to represent the United States in a Delegation Event (defined as the Olympic or Paralympic Games, the Pan American Games or Para Pan American Games) or the World or Para World Championships within the previous 10 years  prior to December 31 of the year in which the election is held shall be eligible to run for election as the Alternate to the USOPC Team USA Athletes’ Commission. This same group is eligible to vote for the Alternate to the USOPC Team USA Athletes’ Commission.

Additionally, in order to be eligible to run for election, an individual shall be a citizen of the United States and eighteen (18) years of age or older by December 31 of the year in which the election is held. Individuals must be current USAB members and have a current background check and Safesport training on file. Athletes cannot be paid employees of the USOPC or USA Badminton.

• Nov. 1, 2023 – Request for nominations and nominating instructions posted online
• Nov. 22 2023 – Nominations Close
• Dec. 6, 2023 – Ballots sent out
• Dec. 16, 2023, 11:59 p.m. PST – Voting Closes
• Dec. 21, 2023 – Election Results Announced
