Wang makes semis at Denmark Masters

On Saturday, U.S. women’s singles player Iris Wang faced Denmark’s No. 1 seed and World No. 27, Line Christophersen, in the semifinals at the Victor Denmark Masters 2021. Wang, who was the No. 3 seed in the tournament, was able to pull the match to three games but fell just short in the final game. 

In the first game, Christophersen led most of the way as the American player fell 18-21. Wang bounced back in the second game by pulling away in the end to a 21-16 win. Both players battled for the lead in the third game and Wang would lose 19-21 in the tight battle. 

Wang had previously beaten Slovenia’s Petra Polanc 21-11 and 21-6 early in the day on Friday. Later in the day, she faced Ireland’s Rachael Darragh and won 21-9 and 21-11. In the quarterfinals held early on Saturday, Wang defeated Hungary’s Vivien Sandorhazi 21-17 and 21-13.
