Semifinal Saturday at Brazil Parabadminton International 2023

By: Mike Krajewski

Saturdays mean semifinals on the BWF Parabadminton circuit. At the 2023 edition of the Brazil Parabadminton International, USA had two athletes still competing: Jayci Simon (SH6) in women’s doubles and Miles Krajewski (SH6) in men’s doubles.

In the first match, Simon and her partner, Yasmina Eissa (Egypt), faced Choi Wing Kei and Lam Ching Yung from Hong Kong. The USA-Egypt pair found their groove early and cruised to a 21-8, 21-7 victory to earn a spot in Sunday’s final against the Chinese Taipei pair, who upset world #1 ranked Poland 15-21, 21-14, 21-18.

Krajewski and partner Vitor Tavares (Brazil) had earned a bye into the semifinals and faced the pair of Fabien Morat and Maxime Greboval from France. Like Simon and Eissa in the women’s match, Krajewski and Tavares got hot early and never looked back, winning 21-5, 21-15. They will look to avenge their 3-game loss of the 2022 World Championship in Tokyo when they Lee Daesung (Korea) and Natthapong Meechai (Thailand) again in the final.
